Sabou Notes – New Tea 2026

Celebrating the 88th Night — the first cup of the season from TOKITO
“Shuntarō” & “Yutakamidori”

The 88th night from the first day of spring marks a cherished moment in Japan—
a time when drinking the year’s first tea is said to bring health and well-being.

At TOKITO, we present a selection of exceptional new teas, available only in this fleeting season.

First, a cup that heralds the arrival of spring ahead of all others.
“Shuntarō,” a rare, ultra-early cultivar from Tanegashima, Kagoshima.
Harvested in early April—the earliest in Japan—this tea embodies the beauty of a fleeting “moment.”
Its vivid hue and delicately rising fresh aroma evoke the very breath of spring with each sip.

We also offer another expression of the season:
a deep-steamed new tea, “Yutakamidori,” grown in the rich lands of Ei, Kagoshima.
Its vibrant green fragrance unfolds into a mellow richness, gentle sweetness, and layered umami.
With the second and third infusions, a soft, refreshing astringency emerges,
inviting you to savor the graceful transition of flavors.

Carefully prepared, these are flavors that exist only in this very moment.
We invite you to experience TOKITO’s new tea, in celebration of the 88th night.
